College Student Vanishes After Getting Counseling For Breakdown

Authorities in California are searching for a missing college student who disappeared after leaving an outpatient therapy center.

Linnea Lomax, a 19-year-old student at the University of California, Davis, was last seen at an outpatient clinic on Howe Ave. in Sacramento on Tuesday afternoon.

"She was at the clinic for an all day visit, but she walked out during lunch and never came back," Lomax family spokesperson Heidi Hutchison told The Huffington Post.

According to Hutchison, Lomax recently suffered a mental breakdown while studying for finals. The young woman spent more than a week at a treatment facility but was released for outpatient therapy after she showed progress.

Lomax, a 2011 graduate of El Dorado High School in Placerville, Calif., had just completed her freshman year at UC Davis. She has a 4.0 grade point average and is studying human development, with the intent of pursuing a degree in nursing.

"Linnea is an angel. She is very smart. She is very sweet and caring," Hutchison said. "She is normally a very self-confident, self-assured and well-adjusted young woman. She has a bright future, a loving, supportive family and a heck of a lot of friends."

Lomax's parents operate Rock-N-Water Christian camp in Northern California. Hutchison said Lomax has worked at the camp for the past several summers as a counselor for teens.

Authorities do not suspect foul play in Lomax's disappearance but do consider her at-risk because her recent actions are not consistent with her normal behavior.

"We think she is scared and does not want to be found at this point," Hutchison said.

A California judge has issued an injunction banning sales of Samsung's Galaxy Tab tablet at the request of Apple Inc., which says Samsung violated its patents.

The preliminary injunction bars Samsung from making or selling their Tab 10.1 tablet, which Apple claims violates its design patent for the front, back and sides of the iPad, in the United States.

The ruling is the latest action in an ongoing legal battle between Apple and the South Korean technology giant, which has grown to 30 legal cases between the companies over design and technology patents in 10 different countries.

The ruling is unlikely to significantly impact Samsung's earnings, analysts said.

"Tablets are not Samsung's key product anyway so the latest ruling won't likely have any significant impact on Samsung's earnings," Lee Seung-woo, an analyst at IBK Securities, told the Los Angeles Times.

Apple has been granted similar injunctions in other countries, including Australia and Germany, forcing Samsung to redesign its device for those markets.

Samsung expressed disappointment at the injunction.

"We will continue to take all available measures, including legal action, to ensure continued consumer access to our innovative products," the company said in a statement. (c) UPI

Colorado's so-called Waldo Canyon fire sent a mushroom cloud of smoke nearly 20,000 feet (6,100 metres) into the air over Colorado Springs near Pikes Peak, whose breathtaking vistas from the summit helped inspire the song "America the Beautiful".

Closer to the blaze, which has been fanned by winds blowing into the Southern Rockies from the prairies to the east, trees were visibly twisting from the heat of the flames.

The latest evacuations brought the total number of people forced from their homes to about 12,000 as the blaze posed a renewed threat to hundreds of dwellings and appeared to have roared to within about a mile (1.6 km) of the U.S. Air Force Academy grounds in Colorado Springs.

Operators of a famous cog railway that carries tourists up to Pikes Peak said the trains would remain shut down on Tuesday for a third straight day.

The highway that leads up to Pikes Peak has been closed since shortly after the fire erupted on Saturday, as has the popular Garden of the Gods, a picturesque park of tall, rocky spires and oddly balanced boulders.

Air tankers dropped fire retardant in the blaze's path to slow its advance, while firefighters on the ground battled to protect homes along a highway at the mountain's edge, including the upscale, gated community of Cedar Heights. No homes were reported burned, but the fire consumed a wooden tent platform.

"We're feeling pretty good that's the only thing we've lost given this monster we are dealing with," said Rob Deyerberg, a fire information officer.

The closures around Pikes Peak, billed as the world's second-most visited mountain after Japan's Mount Fuji, have drawn attention to the fire's negative impact on the tourism industry just at the start of the peak summer travel season.

After three days, the blaze has scorched an estimated 4,500 acres (1,821 hectares), and fire crews managed to carve containment lines around just 5 percent of its perimeter. The cause was still under investigation.

A recreation area belonging to the Air Force Academy was ordered evacuated due to its proximity to the fire, and all trails leading west of the school were closed, the base said.

'Trying to Remain Optimistic'?

Despite the fresh evacuations, the town of Manitou Springs, which had been evacuated over the weekend, appeared to remain out of imminent danger after residents were allowed back on Sunday.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) ? The Florida mother who was acquitted last year of murdering her 2-year-old daughter had mental health issues that contributed to her habitual lying, the lead attorney in her criminal case says in a new book.

In "Presumed Guilty, Casey Anthony: The Inside Story," Jose Baez said detectives should have realized Casey Anthony had built a "fantasy world," and her lies weren't evidence of guilt but signs of someone with "serious mental health issues."

The book is scheduled to be released July 3. The Associated Press purchased a copy Tuesday.

Anthony is serving probation for an unrelated charged at an undisclosed location in Florida and couldn't be reached for comment Tuesday.

Describing how Anthony led detectives on a wild goose chase, even taking them to Universal Studios where she falsely claimed she had a job, Baez writes, detectives "should have stopped and realized, 'Wait a minute, we're not dealing with someone who is playing with a full deck.'"

Anthony originally told detectives that her daughter, Caylee, was taken by a babysitter in June 2008, and that she didn't report her missing for more than a month because she was searching for the toddler on her own. During Anthony's trial last year, Baez argued that the little girl accidentally drowned in the family swimming pool and that Anthony panicked and hid the body because of the traumatic effects of being sexually abused by her father.

George Anthony denied the defense's allegations that he abused Casey and helped her cover up Caylee's death.

Prosecutors had contended that Anthony suffocated Caylee with duct tape because she wanted to be free to hit the nightclubs and spend time with her boyfriend. Jurors acquitted Anthony of first-degree murder but convicted her of four misdemeanor counts of lying to investigators.

Baez repeats the allegations of sexual abuse in greater detail in the book, saying it contributed to Anthony's mental health issues. Mark Lippman, an attorney for George Anthony, refused to comment on the book Tuesday because he hadn't read it.

Baez takes aim at the reporters who covered the case, detectives who investigated it, "groupies" who attached themselves to it and the case's original judge who Baez says filed a complaint against him with the Florida Bar. The complaint was later dropped.

The three-year case took an emotional toll on Baez, according to his book. He suffered depression after the complaint was filed against him and he found it difficult to find joy in his wife's pregnancy.

Baez also criticizes the way he was portrayed in the media as an inexperienced attorney taking on one of the highest-profile criminal cases in recent memory.

"The public may have been convinced that I was an idiot but I let it all roll off my back," he writes

The simple and flexible design showcases Stylexhange?s contemporary fashions while at the same time recounting the history and traditions of its surrounding neighborhood.

The black area showcases recently arrived products in a non-organized, market-inspired way. The central workshop, bright and white, is drawn in a way to focus on the work of the in-store stylist who puts together noteworthy combinations of clothes and accessories. The existing entryway of the store was amended to create a linear commercial space, with low ceilings above an open-plan, two level space in the centre. The aesthetic of the new atelier is part design studio, part trendy, second-hand boutique. The store was designed as a canvas for the diverse, cosmopolitan crowd of the area: style, music and graphic art are the real inhabitant of this space.

The black space was conceived as a creative canvas of blackboards, with a constantly evolving design. The blackboards allow local artists to decorate the boutique in the colours of the surrounding neighborhood. In this way, art unifies every element of the store, connecting the brands with each other and with the neighborhood. The original floors of the space were maintained. They feature a mix of tiles from different eras, while the subdivisions of the space were painted uniformly, thus recalling the history of the space.

Ellison slams Supreme Court campaign finance ruling | MinnPost

WASHINGTON ? The U.S. Supreme Court "squandered an opportunity" to revise its landmark?Citizens United decision when it struck down a Montana campaign finance law on Monday, U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison said.

The court's ruling on Arizona's immigration law is getting bigger headlines, and its Thursday decision on President Obama's health care reform law is much more highly anticipated. But its 5-4 decision Monday to summarily dismiss a case concerning a Montana law banning campaign contributions by corporations is a blow to those advocating for less corporate money in politics, Ellison, a Democrat, among them.

The court overturned a 1912 Montana law banning corporations from spending money on political campaigns. The court's five conservative justices wrote "there can be no serious doubt" that the 2010 decision in the Citizens United v. FEC case applied to state laws like Montana's, and declined to hear oral arguments in the case. In essence, the justices ruled they were not interested in revisiting Citizens United.

Citizens United allowed corporations and labor unions to spend unlimited money on political races. Ellison and his Congressional Progressive Caucus have slammed the ruling, and Ellison has introduced a constitutional amendment meant to ban such spending.

A statement from Ellison and fellow CPC co-chair Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.) read, in part:

"This ruling compounds the damage to our democracy already done by the Citizens United v. FEC decision, which has allowed millions of untraceable dollars to overwhelm our federal, state, and local elections.

?The precedent set by that decision and reaffirmed today allows outside groups to trump popular state and federal laws that keep elections in the hands of the people. ...

?We?ve seen this same story all over the country, and we know what happens next. Wealthy donors, corporations and special interests will now have unchecked influence over Montana?s political process. Citizens United is rapidly eroding the foundation of our democracy. The decision announced today is a squandered opportunity to repair that damage."

2012 Ford F-150 Harley-Davidson Review

I would argue that most Harley-Davison riders want to be noticed, often doing so by shattering the already tattered calm of the city.

The same likely holds true for buyers of the 2012 Ford F-150 Harley-Davidson edition. They want to be noticed too, and this 4x4 pickup has the goods to draw attention; fortunately with less auditory stimulation than the two-wheeled variants. Still, this is one mean sounding truck.

Genuine Harley-Davidson inspiration
Ford reports that nearly every member of their Harley-Davidson F-150 team is a Harley owner. No fakes here. The team has taken the 2012 F-150 H-D edition further along the single track than any of the previous versions.

In fact, they've adopted a snakeskin theme to accent the leather upholstery and bodyside graphics, inspired by tank inserts on premium-level Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Along with authentic H-D badging inside and out, Ford has fitted the H-D F-150 with 22" machined aluminum wheels with painted accents inspired by Harley motorcycle wheels.

Along with the big wheels, Ford has given the H-D a lowered appearance and equipped it with power- deployable running boards. They also chose Harley-Davidson White Platinum tri-coat paint to distinguish the 2012 F-150 H-D. This is the first year that white has been offered.

Finally, a unique six-slat chrome grille adorns the front of the truck. The slats are intended to resemble the cooling fins of the fabled V-twin air-cooled Harley-Davidson engine. Naturally, the engine behind the grille is something of a monster by comparison.

Big truck - big power
The massive 6.2L SOHC V8 features variable cam timing and sequential electronic fuel injection to produce 411 hp @ 5,500 rpm and 434 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm. Those are impressive numbers arising from the big-bore architecture of Ford's iron block powerplant.

No turbocharging or ultra sophisticated technology here; just hedonistic power produced the old fashion way - with cubic inches. Of course, power comes at a price - ask any dictator - and that price is paid at the pumps. My in-town average economy generally exceeded 20L/100km.

The thirsty powerplant unleashes its might into a 6-speed automatic transmission that feeds power to the rear wheels unless the electronically-activated four-wheel-drive system is engaged. As such, the driver can select all-wheel drive (4A), four-wheel drive high range (4H) or four-wheel drive low range (4L).

Mounted on the side of the shift lever is a small rocker switch that enables the manual selection of gears. This setup works remarkably well, allowing drivers full control of the transmission with nothing more than the touch of a thumb.

Also on the shifter is a small button to activate a tow/haul mode to assist the truck in motivating a caboose. And thanks to a tow rating of 3,400 kg (or 7,500 lbs), that caboose can be of significant substance.

Of course, luxurious trucks aren't all about work; they're about comfort as well, and the F-150 H-D epitomizes that attribute.

Within the Harley cabin
The H-D F-150 is laden with comfort, luxury and convenience. Its cabin is roomier than living rooms in most condo developments. Front- and rear-seat accommodations are expansive and heated; the front perches being cooled as well to ensure the utmost in trucking bliss.

The four-wheeled Harley is replete with Ford's latest SYNC technology and voice-activated navigation system paired with an 8" LCD screen that doubles as a backup camera. The system can even play DVDs when the vehicle is in Park.

Lest one should have to climb into the cab after a long day atop a Road King, the automatic deploying running board drops into place upon the opening of a door. Once inside, the delight begins.

Behind the snakeskin wheel
There's ferocious power, and plenty of it. This truck hauls ass. I'm not sure how to put it any more succinctly - or elegantly for that matter. Off-the-line performance is herculean while life in the passing lane is mind-bending for such a behemoth.

Like the shattering tumult of straight-piped Harleys, the big F-150 emits a menacing exhaust staccato on its way to redline that doesn't abide by expectations. Under more conservative administration though, it speaks in deep, soothing murmurs.

The sense of calmness is further enhanced by the notable absence of road and wind noise in the plush environs. This, along with the vehicle's absorbent yet firm ride quality, imparts an aura of delight as one takes to the highway.

Still, there's no mistaking the fact that the underpinnings are those of a 4WD truck. This is especially apparent when the rear wheels encounter disagreeable sections of roadway. It's also apparent that agility and nimbleness are not strengths to be lauded. But hey, this isn't that sort of vehicle.

The F-150 H-D wrap
The 2012 Ford F-150 Harley-Davidson is a unique offering by Ford in conjunction with Harley-Davidson. It's a luxurious truck cross-bred with the famous - near mythical - motorcycle.

I enjoyed driving this rolling exhibit of Americana, albeit being noticed wasn't my desire. The truck garnered attention, even when parked outside my abode where many dog walkers stopped to give it the once-over.

Of course, rolling exhibits aren't generally inexpensive, and such is the case with my tester given its MSRP of $65,749.

Korea's golden goose is on track to drop its 10 millionth Galaxy S III by July, according to Samsung mobile head Shin Jong-kyun. The expectation comes despite limited supply, fueled by a component shortage at the smartphone giant. Regardless of this notable shortcoming, Samsung has wasted no time getting its latest handset to market, and expects to deliver the 4.8-inch Galaxy to some 300 carriers in 147 countries by the end of next month, including all of the major UK carriers, along with AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon in the US. The Queen of Sheba's genetic legacy may live on in Ethiopia, according to new research that finds evidence of long-ago genetic mixing between Ethiopian populations and Syrian and Israeli people.

The Queen of Sheba, known in Ethiopia as Makeda, is mentioned in both the Bible and the Quran. The Bible discusses diplomatic relations between this monarch and?King Solomon of Israel, but Ethiopian tradition holds that their relationship went deeper: Makeda's son, Menelik I, the first emperor of Ethiopia, is said to be Solomon's offspring.

Whether this tale is true or not, new evidence reveals close links between Ethiopia and groups outside of Africa. Some Ethiopians have 40-50 percent of their genomes that match more closely with populations outside of Africa than those within, while the rest of the genomes more closely match African populations, said study researcher Toomas Kivisild of the University of Cambridge. "We calculated genetic distances and found that these non-African regions of the genome are closest to the populations in Egypt, Israel and Syria," Kivislid said in a statement.

From its perch on the Horn of Africa, Ethiopia is the site of early hominin discoveries such as "Lucy," a fossilizedAustralopithecus afarensis?and an early human ancestor. Ethiopia is also a?gateway between Africa and Asia, according to Kivislid and his colleagues. But few genetic studies have delved specifically into the Ethiopian genome.

Both agriculture and linguistics show a link between Ethiopia and lands outside of Africa. For example, archaeologists have uncovered wheat and barley farming in Ethiopia, agriculture that first arose in the Fertile Crescent of the Middle East. Linguistically, Ethio-Semitic, a language spoken both in Ethiopia and nearby Eritrea, has been traced to a Middle Eastern origin.?

Pirates' Burnett beats Tigers for 7th straight win

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Brought over from the New York Yankees in the offseason, in part, to help transform a culture developed through 19 consecutive losing seasons, A.J. Burnett is doing plenty of winning for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Burnett pitched six shutout innings to win his seventh consecutive start and the Pirates won for the fifth time in six games, 4-1 over the Detroit Tigers on Friday night.

Burnett (8-2) allowed two hits and three walks and struck out four to extend his streak of starts that resulted in victories to the longest for a Pirates pitcher in 38 years. Doc Ellis won eight consecutive outings in 1974.

"He relied a lot on his experience, a lot on his catcher and a lot on making pitches," Pittsburgh manager Clint Hurdle said of Burnett. "He got ahead in counts, they'd run it back to three balls then he'd find a way to get outs. He kept them from scoring, kept them from crossing the plate and you can't ask for more than that."

Burnett followed James McDonald's complete-game victory Thursday, matching his career high by winning a seventh consecutive decision.

"It's nice because it means the team is winning," Burnett said, "but I wasn't thinking about it. I just went out there and tried to take the baton from J-Mac and carry it on."

Andrew McCutchen went 3-for-4 to improve his batting average to .346 and Rod Barajas added two hits for the Pirates (37-32), who matched a season high by going five games over .500.

Ramon Santiago had an RBI double for the Tigers, who had won four of five. Detroit missed a chance to move back to .500 for the first time since being 18-18 on May 15.

The crowd of 37,965 was Pittsburgh's fifth sellout of the season. The city is beginning to warm to a team that has won 15 of its past 19 home games and began the day within two games of the first-place Cincinnati Reds in the NL Central.

Detroit managed a mere three baserunners against Burnett over the first five innings but the first two batters of the sixth reached when Austin Jackson singled and Quintin Berry walked.

Slugger Miguel Cabrera worked Burnett into a full count but grounded into a double play on the eighth pitch of the at-bat.

Burnett improved to 5-0 at home this season, allowing six earned runs in 48 2-3 innings at PNC Park (1.11 ERA).

He had losing records pitching for playoff teams in New York the past two seasons but is on pace to threaten the career-high 18 victories he had for Toronto in 2008, when Barajas was his catcher.

"It's good to be able to work with him again," Barajas said. "We had a great relationship in Toronto and he's back to pitching the way he did there."

Pittsburgh has won 10 of its past 12 games against AL teams, allowing an average of less than three runs over that time.

Tony Watson struck out Jackson to end the seventh, Jason Grilli worked a perfect eighth and Joel Hanrahan had two strikeouts in retiring the side in the ninth for his 18th save in 20 opportunities.

The first three Pirates had hits against Tigers starter Doug Fister. Neil Walker followed Alex Presley's leadoff double with an RBI single, and Walker scored when Garrett Jones grounded into a double play.

The Pirates added two unearned runs in the second when Detroit mangled fielding Burnett's sacrifice bunt attempt.

Pedro Alvarez and Barajas led off the inning with consecutive singles. With one out, Burnett - who broke an orbital bone during a bunting competition in spring training - laid down an attempted sacrifice.

Fister fielded the ball and tried for the lead runner at third. His throw sailed into left field, where Delmon Young couldn't handle it cleanly. Two errors were charged on the play in which two Pittsburgh runs were scored.

"We probably turned what would have been a third-to-first double play into two runs, which was obviously a no-no for us," Tigers manager Jim Leyland said. "And we couldn't overcome it. We didn't swing the bats very well, and of course Burnett was good."

Detroit scored in the seventh when Jhonny Peralta and Santiago hit consecutive doubles off reliever Jared Hughes.

The run allowed the Tigers to extend their club record streak of not being shut out to 138 games.

Coming off his first win of the season, Fister (1-4) was charged with two earned runs, eight hits and a walk in six innings. He had seven strikeouts.

"He was struggling a little early," Leyland said. "He left a couple pitches with two strikes up in some hittable spots. He wasn't real sharp early, but he settled in and pitched well."

Notes: According to STATS LLC, Giants RHP Matt Cain is the only other pitcher in the majors this season to win at least seven straight starts. Cain has a current streak of eight wins in as many outings. ... Burnett won seven consecutive decisions July 19-Aug. 19, 2005, as a member of the Florida Marlins. ... Leyland said RHP Jose Valverde (wrist) was feeling "much better" Friday but that the closer still was not 100 percent. Valverde, who has not pitched since June 15, was to play catch Saturday. ... RHP Max Scherzer starts for the Tigers on Saturday against RHP Brad Lincoln. Scherzer had 15 strikeouts in a 4-3 win against Pittsburgh May 20.

Investing in Graphene "Miracle Material" for Profit - The Market Oracle

Larry D. Spears writes: Last December, Money Morning technology specialist Michael A. Robinson told you about a radical new material that would soon have a pervasive impact on the U.S. economy - and the entire human race.

Robinson detailed how this new material is so powerful and versatile, it's going to play a key role in new products for the U.S. military, leading tech companies, and medical researchers.

"Stronger than steel and lighter than a feather, this high-tech medium will shape virtually every part of our daily lives by the end of this decade," said Robinson. "The possible uses are almost limitless."

It's called graphene, and it's one of the most versatile elements ever created - useful in a multitude of applications and potentially capable of redefining the world as we know it.

The "Miracle" of Graphene
Specifically, graphene is a two-dimensional structure made from the carbon atoms in graphite - the stuff in pencil leads - but bonded together in honeycomb-like sheets a mere one atom thick.

Imagine a sub-microscopic chicken-wire mesh, but made up of carbon atoms and their connectors rather than metal.

First envisioned back in 1947, graphene didn't become a reality until 2004, when several teams of researchers demonstrated that single layers of carbon atoms could actually be isolated.

Now there's a mad dash to exploit the unique properties of the material, which are impressive:

?Graphene is one of the strongest materials ever created, 200 times stronger than steel and even more durable than diamonds. According to researchers quoted by BBC News, "It would take an elephant balanced on a pencil to break through a sheet of graphene the thickness of Saran Wrap."
?It's highly flexible and can be stretched like rubber without losing its strength.
?It's the thinnest physical material in the world - 3 million sheets of graphene stacked atop one another would be just 1 millimeter thick. It also weighs virtually nothing.
?It conducts both heat and electricity better than copper, and could eventually replace silicon in circuitry, potentially changing the nature of every electronic device in use today. Imagine cell phones the size of a strand of wire or big-screen high-definition televisions no thicker than wall paper - and capable of being rolled up into a one-inch tube and moved anywhere.
?It's incredibly energy efficient and a potentially eco-friendly source of power. MIT researchers recently found they could generate electric current by shining light on graphene, meaning it could be used to revolutionize solar-power collection. A separate study at Northwestern University found graphene could be used to charge lithium-ion batteries - like those used in electric vehicles - 10 times faster and give them 10 times the storage capacity of present models.

It's no wonder then that governments, universities, energy companies and major corporations are pouring huge dollar amounts into graphene research and product development.

For example, Great Britain just dedicated $120 million to further graphene work at the University of Manchester; South Korea has announced $300 million in graphene projects; and the U.S. military is studying potential applications in aircraft, missiles and other high-speed, light-weight equipment.

On the corporate front, an estimated 200 companies - from IBM (NYSE: IBM) and Intel Corp. (Nasdaq: INTC) to international players like Korea's Samsung Corp. and Nokia Corp. (NYSE ADR: NOK) - are working on graphene research and applications.

IBM has already demonstrated a 150 gigahertz (GHz) transistor made of graphene, nearly quadrupling the 40 GHz top speed of the fastest silicon-based device.

Investing in Graphene Stock
By now, you should be chomping at the bit for ways in which to invest in this "miracle material."

As far as retail investors are concerned, currently graphene is a limited market.

First, there's no way to invest in graphene - or the graphite carbon it's made from - as a commodity.

China controls roughly 70% of the market, much as it dominates more than 95% of the world's "rare earths" market, and Beijing is both limiting exports and charging a 20% export duty on graphene. That's one reason its price has more than tripled in the past five years.

For investors who can't wait to get a hold of a graphene stock, the only publicly traded Western alternative would be the Northern Graphite Corp. (CVE: NGC). Its shares are listed on the Canadian Venture Exchange, recent price of $1.71.

NGC mines large-flake graphite from its Bissett Creek site in Northern Ontario, and has used it to successfully produce graphene - which, though larger and slightly heavier, reportedly has higher electrical conductivity, lower resistance and greater transparency than graphene made from Chinese powder or flake graphite.

Given its low price - its 52-week range has been $0.71 to $3.42 - Northern Graphite obviously offers potential, but the company hasn't shown a profit at any time over the past five years and trading volume on the CVE is thin, with notoriously large bid-ask spreads. NGC is ultra-speculative.

As of now, there's no real pure play in graphene research, development or manufacturing, either - but there is something close.

A graphene stock in the manufacturing field is CVD Equipment Corp. (Nasdaq: CVV), recent price $13.12. Partnered with Columbia University's Graphene Labs Inc., CVV manufactures and markets graphene products online via a Website called graphene-supermarket.com.

Unlike NGC, CVD Equipment has shown rising revenue ($30.99 million in 2011) and profits over the past five years, with earnings per share jumping from 11 cents in 2010 to 67 cents in 2011. The company earned 12 cents on revenue of $7.15 million in the first quarter of 2012. Unfortunately, trading volume in CVV shares is also thin - just 71,000 per day - and the stock has already risen from just $3.01 a share in mid-2010, though it is well off its 52-week high of $19.76.

Investing in graphene stock is difficult in that nearly all of the other graphene-related companies are privately held. That includes Michigan-based XG Sciences Inc., one of the largest U.S. graphene suppliers, selling "nanoplatelets" and developing specialized graphene products using them.

However, you can make an indirect investment in XG through POSCO (ADR NYSE: PKX), recent price $82.84, which purchased a 20% share in the company last June.

Obviously, graphene offers remarkable possibilities. It also offers substantial profits for investors, but finding the right vehicle to catch the graphene wave will be a challenge - requiring both patience and close monitoring of companies that may benefit most as the new technologies evolve.
