Dozens of jobs saved in Newport

NEWPORT, Vt. -

40 jobs are staying put in Newport ?thanks to a buyout.

Revision Military in Essex has finalized the purchase of MSA North America's ballistic helmet business. Revision makes military eyewear and says it plans to preserve the 40 jobs that were thought to be in jeopardy at the MSA plant in Newport. That company is leaving the military helmet business.

Senator Patrick Leahy says Revision has been looking to expand into the helmet business He says the skilled helmet makers in Newport are a good match.
